Three Rivers to Clough Cave August 12 1911
--Left Three Rivers. Mr Welch loaned me his favorite riding horse Charlie and with Britten's mule I start out. A good many local people wondered that Mr. Welch would let me have the horse--no one else could get him!
Particularly surprised is Austin the Blacksmith

--Chaparral above Maxon's as far as Clough Cave:
Cercocarpus parvifolius. It is mostly slender and tall here, forced up by the high chaparral. It is often very tall and tree-like. I note one tree 22 f. h. and
