Clough Cave (Tulare Co.) (S. Fork Kaweah River) to Garfield Forest, 5000 ft.

No. 4652. Quercus garryana var. breweri. Collected on mountain side above Clough Cave in the chaparral belt below the pine belt. The shrubs exhibited a wonderful diversity in leaf form and texture.

Chaparral Belt below Pines but above Clough Cave.

This formation is 6 to 8 ft. h.

- Quercus garryana var. breweri, 25-40% stand.
- Ceanothus integerrimus H._A.
- Fremontonia californica
- Rhus diversiloba. The Poison Oak is scattered through the chaparral.
- Chamaebatia foliolosa, Mountain Miseris is thick on the floor of this chaparral area.
- Quercus kelloggii comes up under protection of the area and is now 6 to 10 feet above it now.
- Rhamnus ilicifolia
