is cashier at the Bidwell Office. He says horses will seek Cal. walnut trees in preference to other trees, on account of the flies not being too numerous in the shade of such trees.
- Sir Joseph Hooker Oak. General Bidwell said a tree got to a certain age and the stopped growth. But the Hooker Oak has grown a great deal since measured first, altho it was thought to have reached its maximum size. -Mrs. Royce.
