cones in a cluster. The taller trees branch freely, with the cones towards the end of the branches, usually in heavy clusters, 6 to 12 or 15. The crowns are yellowish.
The fire has left thousands of standing killed trees, the
cones persisting by the hundreds.
seedlings = 4001a by the thousands fruiting at 1 foot in height.
Terminal pair of cones with conical umbos; remainder with crescent-shaped umbos. Sometimes terminal pair of scales little developed and without umbos at all.
Associates = Pinus muricata

and Pinus radiata. Former trees 30 ft. h. & 1 ft. diam. at base (overthrown in last fire)
- Variation in cones as to size and umbos very great. Scales with smooth umbos to conical umbos.
- One tree or rather shrub measured 2 ft 2 in. circ. at ground and 12 feet tall. There is an individual in lower part of grove = 15 feet h.
