21_137 June 15, 1910 Leaving Prattville by stage we traveled southerly to Mountain View, a station on the South Fork Feather where it[twines] from Big Mdws to cut westerly through the Sierra divide. We climbed to the summit which is not very high and then descended to Indian Valley (where there is a sawmill which supples Big Mdw farmers with boards), thence to Greenville which is a considerable town for this region. It has an old brick structure or two built in gold days fashion. Nooned here. The leading merchant and Wells Fargo agent, J. N. Murray, saw me changing plants and wanted to know if an introduced thistle at Greenville were the real |
