habit from Ceanothus prostratus which occurs in Yellow Pine woods very plentifully on west slope of Sierra Nevada on our route from Starling City east. It is truly remarkable how closely and evenly Ceanothus prostratus hugs the ground.
No. 4099,however while essentially prostrate has ascending branches and is not nearly so prostrate or so dense as the typical form. It (No. 4099) is the only form here, at least I have not observed Ceanothus prostratus in this region.
