Tuolumne River Bridge.

July 15. Made La Grange, 20 mi by 12:20, where we lunched. Started at 7:00, thence down the river and camped over night on the Tuolumne River by the Great Bridge_. Fine Oak at our camping place across the river from a great farm. Thence across the San Joaquin plains to Stockton where took boat for San Francisco

Notes on Sierra Trip
First Toll House - Coulterville Road to Yosem.
- Sugar Pine
- Flow. Dogwood
- Quercus chrysolepis, not found below or only a few individuals.
- Acer macrophyllum first noticed on Greely Hill, eastern descent.
Coulterville = 1600 ft.
Greely Hill = 3000 ft.

- Heteromeles arbutifolia, in fl., but you get pretty high before you get it. -- not in the first foothills about Coulterville.
- Pino Blanco, point before reaching Coulterville.
- Merced Grove, Big Trees, 2 trees: 28 1/4 ft. circ. and 41 1/2 ft. circ.; both at 5 ft.
- Hazel Green, 26 miles to Coulterville

- Yellow Pine, first one seen near Coulterville.
