cont. from p. 67. he and Mrs. Gray go somewhere into Spain or France for a long vacation -- but no botany or collecting. Here in California, I (and others) have gotten our vacation, a real one, by a collecting trip into the Sierra Nevada for an entire summer. A change of scene complete, the experience of the mountains vitalizing and renewing, the long long days in the open and the nights under the stars. -- Apr. 6, 1934.
