Berkeley, plants collected.

- Microcala quadrangularis Griseb. Boulder country northwest of North Berkeley (station), Apr. 15, 1896. = the present Thousand Oaks district. The afternoon I found them, the flowers were closed. The species is common here.

- Quercus densiflora. Pope Valley road, just beyond divide from Angwin's, Feb. 23, 1896.

Berkeley Hills.
- Quercus agrifolia in tree form. Q. wislizenii in scrub form near Sugar Loaf Peak. The limit line between these two species if worked out and map-drawn on a sheet of the Coast Ranges would be highly interesting.
