Trip to the Arroyo Mocho, May 17, 1891.
Went by train to Livermore. Walked south the next morning after a night in the hotel. Reached the Arroyo Mocho, botanized all day. Collected the composite described as new by Professor E.L. Greene under the name Eriophyllum jepsonii. As evening came on I found that none of the little settlers were willing to take me as a guest. I finally persuaded the young woman in one cabin to give me a supper (for which of course I paid) and then after much pleading got a bed at another cabin. On my (Cont p. 49)
