- Sclenostegia [?] pilosa. Calyx bracts, only one persistent until after dehiscence of capsule._ - Rebecca Ranch Grade.
- Ceanothus parryi, in. fl., fruit with 3 warts.
- Aralia californica. Leaves decompound, 44 inches long & 48 in. wide at least. Single leaflet 10 x 14 inches. Proper [?] panicle about 32 in.

_ This calyx lobe which persists is the lower. Now, the capsule is obcompressed. That is the valve sutures are opposite the (upper & lower) calyx lobes. Now as the valves of the capsule turn from each other at apex they open most down the side bounded by the bract or rather lower calyx-lobe which is bract-like -- altho' the calyx bounds that side at base.
