-- Alnus rhombifolia Nutt. Trunk not mottled. Main stem or branches very straight, branches spreading, very twiggy, the twigs slender. Twiggy growth gives a fine appearance to the top of the tree.

-- Quercus lobata at Santa Rosa. On north hillsides, in leaf for three weeks, at least since March 12!! In valley, foliage not yet out! -- Mar. 28, 1899. M.S. Baker.
