Trip to Las Trampas
Apr. 19, 1899.

- Vegetation on the eastern side of the Oakland Hills.

- Kellogg Black Oak near Glorietta
- Douglas Blue Oak near Glorietta
- Valley Oak near Glorietta
- The dense clumps of trees hang to the eastern or particularly north-eastern side of the hills, sharply limited as seen in many cases nearer the coast. The density and sharp bounding of these clumps is very noticeable but is unknown in the Inner Coast Ranges. One can look up a canon running north and south and see the Laurel densely clumped all over the abrupt east wall, the wall facing the west being brown.
- Distegia abundant along streams.
- Psoralea physodes is very common.
- Bracken very thick on open hillsides canons at Las
Trampas.
