Sherwood, Aug. 1, 1897

- Gooseberry, fruit deep red, almost lurid
- Stopped all night at the Stanley Ranch in the picturesque Sherwood Valley. Saw Sherwood himself a mile back, the historical character of this region.

- Cont. frm . 107 ante. I have spelled the camp name as Rohraby consistenly. Doubtless it was a phonetic spelling but I may have asked the man how he spelled his name. It might well be Rohrerby, since Rohrer is a well-known surname.

- Populus tremuloides, near Eel River bridge, "nooning place" -- [I think this must have been meant for trichocarpa -- W.L.J, Sept, 1902] Yes! See specimen so labeled! in field.
- Digger Pine, Adenostoma, fasciculatum, Buckeye, Quercus lobata & Douglasii
