Tan Oak Measurements

- Tree No. 21. Height = 80 feet. Bark weight = 865 lbs. Diam. stump = 1 ft. 5 1/2 in. at 3 ft. Trunk peeled = 60 feet. Bark 1st rim = 2 in. thick. Most of it = 7/8 " [in.] " [thick]. Last rim = 1/2 " [in.] " [thick] Diam trunk last rim = 9 in.

- Quercus densiflora, trunk of sapling, diam. 1 1/4 inches, injured by fire when very young, a hollow center of 1/2 inch but afterwards completely closed over! No sign outside! See box material.

- Pseudotsuga taxifolia. Aug. '07 Overshaded slow-growing sapling in the Redwood forest, section taken at base, see box material, nearly 50 years old! Diameter 1 1/2 inches.

- Tree No. 22. Height = 100 feet. Age = 185 years. Bark peeled = 81 feet. Diam. trunk last rim = 1 ft 6 in Diam. butt = 3 ft. 10 in. at 2 ft. Bark 1 3/4 in thick on butt. " [Bark] 1 1/2 in. at 44 ft. Bark upper cut = 1 in.

Waste under side of log = 30 lbs. Scattered = 20 lbs

Two men 1/2 day and one man 1 1/2 hrs to peel. They spent a lot of time preparing a place for it to fall, & moving bark. Then they covered up a lot of bark because it did not go down just where they planned.
