Seasonal Notes. -- 1908
April 4. -- No rain for six weeks Oaks now in full flower. Conditions for pollination most favorable. Nature of acorn crop in fall to be noted. - Heavy acorn crop! and the acorns very large. Remarkably large acorns of Valley Oak brought in from St. Helena by Miss Friedlander ex. Bot. 4. Saunders from Mendocino says the crop is to be early! Squirrels already in the trees! There has been no rain since above mention save mere traces or light showers and these few, having no effect on vegetation -- W.L. Jepson. Sept. 11, '08
