18_180 Oakland. - Dr. Hackett [Hachett?] says: About 8 miles above Boulder Creek on "China Grade" I found 3 or 4 miles of Foxglove, great patches of it here and there, pink flowers, white flowers, the latter especially in shade near springs Pescadero country a great country! Fine country! Great lot of Redwood in there still, fine timber. Plenty of Douglas Fir mixed with it. Scattered Redwood as far north as Palo Alto. Great show of wild flowers in the lower country near ocean -- Asters and Goldenrod in great show in October. (- July, 08) |

Rep. 4, 21. ---------- - Redwood, bark, used ground for shipping grapes east in cold storage. Works better than cork used in shipments from Spain. U.S.D.A. bulletin on it. Stubenrauch [?] hs something to do with it. -- Apr. 17, 1909. |
