Fork Lewis Creek, Monterey Co. easterly branch, trail to Hollister Road (the "Road"=along San Benito River). [See Priest Valley Quadrangle. (c. 2800ft.) No. 2694. Composite. Microseris linearifolius. No. 2695. Krynitzkia nemaclada (Greene) = Cryptantha. No. 2696. Oenothera micrantha Hornem. No. 2697. Ceanothus cuneatus. Seedling from "burn," abundant. The adults were fire-killed completely. No. 2698. Quercus dumosa, fire-killed. No. 2699. Quercus dumosa stump sprouts. No. 2700. Quercus dumosa stump sprouts. No. 2701. Quercus dumosa stump sprouts. No. 2702. Quercus wislizenii. Each lot of above oaks from one bush. No. 2703. Pentstemon. P. palmeri Gray. See p. 56c. Lower lip longer than upper, of 3 broadly oblong obtuse lobes streaked with deep purple. Lobes purple inside, the whole corolla lilac outside. Throat with 2 mound-like gibbosities on lower lip at origin. One at each interval, the lobes also with a central hairy patch at their base. (c. 2800ft.) ride, the hairs except at tip retro [?] the lower 3/4 of style with short spreading hairs. Filaments glabrous except upper pair which are hairy at base, upper pair of filaments thickened and yellowish at base. In chaparral. -Fire-killed hill, sprouts=Quercus. No. 2698; Q. Douglasii and lobata when young; Q. wislizenii. No. 2704. Peucedanum dasycarpum T & G var. decorum J. Branches reclining on ground at first, white fl. [flowers], then becoming erect and lilac-purple, then fruiting. Or are the branches unisexual? No. 2705. Quercus chrysolepis, forma pendula Jepson. Bed of San Benito River. leaves remarkably narrow. No. 2706. Clarkia Breweri Greene. Filaments clavate-dilated at apex or almost globose, anthers brick-red, conspicuously ciliate along lines of dehiscence. Sepals all |
