Sherwood Valley [July 30, 1907]
-Mr. Carey says peeling closed down August 9, 1905 and August 17, 1906. Peeling is good now, was unsatisfactory when you were here last (June 25-27, 1907). The bark is tougher now, not so brittle as then, not so much loss in handling, or rather peeling. -Petross, the bark peeler says: Bark is tougher now, not so much sap in it; does not break up so badly in coming off. But if 3 or 4 hot days were to come it would be as bad again. I like to peel when it comes off finely. It's a satisfaction to do nice clean work.
