17_10 San Francisco [April 21, 1907] "Sand-dune Valleys" south of Life Stat., opposite Lake Merced. crescents joined across. These are the most striking variations. -Platystigma lineare. Bayless has marked plants to take seeds. The flowers are cream color, or with 3 outer petals egg-yellow, or 3 outer petals with central egg-yellow splotch. The flowers are a little past, in Paradise Valley, now. April 12 of this year would have been just right for collecting herb. [herbarium] specimens. No. 2629. Phacelia distans Bth. Sand dune slopes. 17_11 [San Francisco] April 21, 1907 No. 2631. Orthocarpus erianthus var. versicolor Jepson. Ingleside. No. 2632. Lotus strigosus Greene. Erect or suberect. Flowers yellow (all parts of corolla) fading reddish wings and the very short keel forming a rather compact structure and turned sidewise against the banner, that is, twisted half round, one wing uppermost or facing the observor and covering the structures below. Sand dunes. No. 2633. Lotus tomentosus Greene. L. beerman. Corolla clear yellow, fading crimson. Sand dunes. No. 2634. Linanthus androsacea. Fls. [Flowers] white with yellow throat to corolla. Also saw corollas all on plant pink-red. Sand dunes. |
