- Breakfast at 9:00, dinner at 2:00, supper at 7:30, such is the German routine in this house. One has a great tendency to stop up late and in the morning be a "fickle pensioner of Morpheus' train."

- The poor people of S.F. [San Francisco] now have the bread-line habit. They fall in wherever they see a bread-line. So six young fellows formed bogus bread-lines and looked expectant. As the line grew it was more difficult to keep sober. When it was a good long one they slipped out and left the line, and formed another one elsewhere! This actually occured!

in Berlin Hb. [herbarium] has a very marked pod. No. 1090, Armstrong [Statn]. The pods are decidedly grooved at the sides, a shallow [?] marked furrow, broad, sloping to centre, the fore & aft sides indefinitely 2 or 3 ridged with hair-like ridges. Beak marked. Short stipe (1 to 3 mm.) Branches none or few and widely spreading.
