- Erythronium purpurascens Wats. Purdy says: "Well-marked! While the other species are "large-flowered" this means nothing exact since the variation is so great. It is a matter of soil. Nevertheless purpurascens is "small-flowered" in contrast, its maximum being so different from the average and maximum of the other species. Go 100 yds. above Cisco station and you will find it in the brush."
- E. [erythroniium] californicum. Includes the North Coast Range giganteum. Most important thing to observe is color and mottling of the leaves."
