15_49 Feb. 3, 1906. Pinchot as Secretary to the Committee. A quarrel arose regarding certain forestry policies and Pinchot sided against Sargent. Pinchot was right but I have in vain since that time attempted to bring them together. Sargent hasn't much idea of what forestry really is and does not pretend to have, but he has done a wonderful amount of hard work to promote the feeling for forestry, with his 10th [?] Census Report on the Forests, his Garden and Forest (to which I often contributed) and the Silva, where there are too many names changed but some of them will doubtless last because of the weight of the work.
