= "(Godetia) tenella var tenuifolia Lindl?" of Bentham in Pl.
Hartw = G. biloba!
= rubicunda of the same = G. Bottae!
= lepida " " " = G. purpurea!
= Oe. viminea var. ? parviflora H.& A. in Pac. R. Rep. 4,
coll. by Bigelow, Napa Valley = quadrivulnera, (ovaries
canescent, petals 1 to 1.2 cm. long.)
= Oenothera lepida, Pac. R. Rep. 4 is Godetia purpurea!
("Plains of the San Joaquin near Stockton and Knight's
Ferry.

= Picea Sitchensis. Dr. Henry, who has worked out the matter thoroughly, say the authority for the above should read "Carr." non "Trautv & Meyer" as per Index Kewensis, Sudworth, Sargent, etc. The latter citation appears in Middendorff's Reise, Florula Octotensis 87. Originally published however in 1856 as cf. Trautvetter: Florae Rossicae Fontes.

= Geo. Bentham: -- Baker, J.G. says that Bentham was working here twenty years after he came; fraternized not at all with the people in the Herbarium -- went up to his room and washed there. If he had anything to show he took it to Oliver, the Keeper, with whom only he talked.
