Plants through Nuttall. - Umbellularia Californica was first published by Nees ab Esenbeck, Systema Laurina, p 463 (1836) on a Bot. Beechey plant had from Arnott. - Quercus lobata. "On quitting the coast for the interior we exchanged the evergreen oaks for the deciduous species. The latter grow to fine trees with wood of great specific gravity.
