- Phacelia Californica C. & S. Type. Label in Chamisso's hand. "St. Francisco, California. A. von Chamisso" [?] Two leaves only, one a fragment! The complete leaf is 11 cm. long: terminal leaflet 5 cm. long, 1.3 cm. wide, oblong, acute at base and apex; first pair of lateral leaflets below terminal 3 cm. long, 6 mm. wide, the shape like the terminal. Next pair 2 cm. long, lowest pair 1 cm. long. Rachis and leaflets bristly hairy and also with a finer pubescence or indument below. Whole effect whitish. Not unlike the foliage of Hall's 1261. lab. "P. circinnata calycosa". It is also a good match for Heller's 5701 Lake Merced, labeled P. Californica Cham. but it would be
