Negundo, adult leaves below glabrous or pilose; young branches most often glabrous, pruinose; style hidden. A. Californicum, adult leaves densely pubescent below; young branches pubescent (densely cinerous); style not parted wholly to the base. (Test out above; I am skeptical.) = A. grandidentatum. Rocky Mts. Does it come into Oregon? Sargent refers it as a var. of barbatum, Sudworth of saccharum. = A. glabrum Torr.
