On the St. Sebaldus side also is the Fraukirche with its ancient clock. At noon the seven electors come out and pass around in front of the seated figure of Charlemagne. The figures successively turn and face Charlemagne as they come in front of him, turn again and go on. Charlemagne shakes his kingly wand to each wand. The attendant standing figures at the side of Charlemagne, or rather at the sides of the clock, make a feeble attempt to raise their long horns or straight bugle-like pipes, and blow them rather feebly as well. the procession passes in front of Charle-

magne three times, then stops. I expected them to pass in and the doors to close again but they remained standing there, probably until 1 o'clock. The market place is in the square in front of the church, i.e., the vegetable market. Back of the church is the fruit market and also the statue of the gooseman which perhaps has a popular favor like the manikin at Brussels.
The St. Sebaldus church is celebrated for its Bride's Door and various carvings. It is now undergoing restoration inside. The Church has some good stained glass windows and
