bundles are in open piegon holes. They have a scheme for storing maps of small size, a modification of the drawer system. An end piece or lid lets down, exposing the pigeon-hole which is filled by a drawer with an open end so that any map may be pulled directly out. The bottom of the drawer has cut out two (or ? 1) handpulls. The garden is small but is closely cultivated and the greenhouse utilities are many. The collection of plants is fine and varied. I here saw Psilotum for the first time. It was "flowering" the carpogonium globose,

scattered along the slender "leafless" branches. They also had a very curious Arvid with a tall slender strict flower stalk and a great bulbous base. Senn is well acquainted with Duggan, and McKenny [?] of California with whom he studied in Germany.
Stopped at the Hotel Bauer, with verandahs overhanding the Rhine. My room looked out directly on the broad heaving bosom of the river; a very beautiful outlook. Took a look at the outside of the Munster and then train for the Rhine Falls where I viewed the falls for an hour or over
