There was a long sloping desk or board in front of the bench for writing. Most other things, library, herbarium, collections, had the look of having been started long ago. Among others I noticed Tasso and Copernicus. A statue of Galileo who, like Copernicus, was a professor here stands on one side the hall. It has a touch of realism in that there is a wart on the left cheek. The fruit and flower market occupies one piazza near; the vegetable market another.
