Kew, Surrey The Bakers most kindly took me into their home for the Christmas festivities of Christmas Day, including a dinner of turkey and all the pros and cons that hover about the bird. Things were very jolly. Mr. & Mrs. Beck were there, very charming, with their two children. The childrem were very lively and kept things moving. Dec. 29, 1905. I was a stranger and she was not sure of me. Then she made the Californian play "bear", a part which he quite excelled in according to Christine's notion. She had a lovely time with the man from across the water, did Mistress Christine, and he was happy to find friends in an English home.
