- Mr. Nicholson firmly believes in hybrid species or it were better to say hybridity as an explanation of certain forms described as species. Says roses in the gardens at Kew will freely hybridize so that the seed is not to be depended upon at all even though it come from an accurately named plant. The New York Bot. Gard. people took seeds and he advised them to throw away the whole lot and begin over again.
Cats like to roll in beds of Nemophila insignis. Can't be kept away from it. There are two other plants, notably which the

cats of a town will congregate around. In order to prevent their rubbing, etc. such plants are usually caged but one always notices the beaten track around the cage. The New York Bot. Gard. people moved one of these plants and sent it in a wagon along one of New York's main streets. The way was soon followed by a procession of cats!
