London, England

- The most interesting thing to
the Californian in London at
first glance is the omnibus traffic.
London isn't picturesque but
they give a picturesque touch.
The garden seat on top are favored
and filled with people laughing
and chatting, it seems as if the
whole town in gay-colored
were off for a holiday_. Here
they come, at a right smart
gait, two, three, half-a-dozen at
a time or even a continuous
procession. They form a pleasant
way of gathering one's first
impressions of the town.
Have been to see St. Paul's which
was disappointing, St. Giles
Church where I saw an old-
time Church chiefly interesting as

Milton's burial place; the Wallace
Collection; Buckingham Palace;
Piccadilly; Hyde Park; remarkable for
its size, its fine trees, and its
open fields over which Londoners
may freely wander.
Dr. Perrides is connected with
the Wellcome Research Laboratory of
the Wellcome Chemical Co. at Snow
Hill. He took pleasure in showing
me specimens grown from the
seed of Grindelia cuneifolia which
I had gathered for him at West
Berkeley. he says that the plants
grow straight up without forming
radical leaves and that the
stalks flower the first year.
The stalks branch but little
and bear few large heads.
His specimens confirmed habital points.
