Whitlavia, Clarkia pulchella and concinna, Godetia grandiflora, Boisduvalia densiflora, Sequoia sempervirens, Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana, and a few others. To the left of the Systematic School, on lower ground, is the "Ecole de Phylogenie Vegetal" or "Origin des Especes par l'action de la Variabilite et de l'Heredite." It includes the physiological adaptations spoken of first. The plot includes nearly an acre and was the first visited. It includes examples of variation in leaves, flowers habit and color. Adaptations des Plantes aux Conditions d'Existence. The first area, about one acre was labelled as follows: 1e Partie. "Adaptations pour la Conservation de l'Individual. (Beds illus. transpiration, relation to water, light, etc; see nine pages back. The second area was labeled "2me Partie, Adaptations pour la Conservation de l'Espece. (Procreation and Dissemination.)
