13_38 Brussels Botanic Garden [August 4, 1905] -Rubus australis, New Zealand type, leaf consisting of a long petiole and 3 diverging prongs of petiolules, both prickly; the petiolules sometimes with a leaflet at tip. This densy or intricately bushy plant 3 1/2 ft. h. [feet high] is in the New Zealand garden: "Types de la Flore de la Nue Zealand." They also have a similar "Types de la Australie" with Callistemon and Eucalyptus. All (inc. [including] Araucarias) in pot, taken inside in winter. Also "Types de la Flore du Japon," "Afrique Australis," containing Plumbago Capensis and cactus-like Euphorbia. "Region Mediterrane" containing Cistus sp, Arbutus unedo, Ephedra mono[stachya] |
13_39 [Brussels Botanic Garden] August 4, 1905 [mono]stachya, Olea sp. etc. There is a section devoted to Reproductions: Beds of phanerogams propagating by rhizomes, stolons, bulbils; asexual multiplication of Cryptogams; Parthenogenesis bed, containing Dandelion; Cleistogamous bed containing Viola canina and odorata and Oxalis acetosella and Impatiens noli-tangere and Spergula arvensis. Monoecious bed (Chamaecyparis, Alnus, Carex, etc). Heterogamous bed (Iris, Sage, Asclepias cornuti, Vinca major). Plants Anemophilous and Eutomophilous. Plantes a Pollen Projectile (Urtica ures, etc.) "Fleurs rendues vivantes par leurs Aanimes colorees," bed with Thalictrum aquilegifolium, Macleya |
