Spool No. 3- Tanbark peelings at Briceland, [illegible] peeled tree, tree with "try" marks on it, a young standing peeled tree with one rim taken; Tan Oak trunk with long straight healed scar gash. Also log peeled for 66 ft (tree 90 ft. h.); see further measurements on leaf 23. Log 14 in. diam at 5 [?] feet.

Spool No. 5. 1 & 2 Buckeye. 3. Stump sprouts the tallest grew 5 1/2 ft after peeling last season. Have grown little this season (3 or 4 in), most 3 to 5 ft. h. -- about 750 of them, coming up also from center of hollow stump, fire-burned on one side. 4. Tan Oak sprouts. 5 Ditto, stump 5 1/2' diam. -- all peelings of 1903. No. 5 peeled very low exposing adventitious buds. 6. Ditto 5 same tree. Growth 1-3 ft. h. in last 3 pictures. 7. Tan O logs after area burned. 8. Fire-killed stump sprouts 2-3 ft. h. 9. No sprouts, stump old, low-peeled, no

buds in sight., fire helped also
10. Rank growth, 5 ft. h. last fall & this spring. 225 shoots.

Spool No. 7. - 1-4 Redwoods in White Thorn [?] 5 Redwood shoots from top of unpeeled stump 6-10 Redwoods near Kenny's 11. young sprouts of Redwood covering old stump.

Spool No. 8. 1-4 Wind-blown Redwoods at Inglenook. 5-7, Bishop Pine (6 & 7 at Ft Bragg, 5 at Inglenook, 8. Kidarka 9. Old Redwood stump with small stumps on edge of circle, diam. longest way = 29 ft., nearly circular, woody rim all around. 11. Black Oak toping [?] Chamisal on n. slope and choking it out, trail to Purdy's garden from Log Barn on Mill Creek. 12. Lilies in Purdy's Garden
