Walker Valley, June 5, 1903

- Cluster of Redwoods in Walker Valley
- This is a country where we have opens, round-headed oaks & madrones, and conifers -- just enough Douglas Spruce and Yellow Pine to give a variety to the mountain uplands. Look south and one sees from beyond Willits -- forested slopes dominated by conifers -- look north and you see an openly wooded country.
- Walker Valley to Willits at Summit there is in 600 [?] ft. square Madrona, Douglas Spruce, Yellow Pine, Garry Oak, Black Oak.
- Some fine Maul Oaks along road for about 2 miles before Van Arsdale's
- Two Calif oaks have a variation peculiar to themselves, entire and very toothed leaves on same branchlet! Other Calif oaks
