10_114 Cotonaby Creek to Fort - Just before reaching Inglenook there are some clusters of Redwood which illustrate finely the effects of wind on these trees. Some of them have all their limbs and foliage in their tops -- just as at Cotonaby Creek -- but their appearance is different. Doubtless due to color. - The sand-dunes at Inglenook are still advancing resistlessly. The county road in one place has been moved twice already and there will soon be a demand for a third removal. The places along the road here are numerous -- every 400 or 700 |
10_115 Bragg. June 25, 1903 yards or even less -- small cottages mostly. - Camped at Fort Bragg on the grounds of the Union Lumber Company. Mr. C.R. Johnson is the President of the Company, Mr. Plummer, the General Manager, Mr. Weller, Manager of the store, Mr. Gracie, Superintendent in the woods. The Company employs ordinarily about 2000 men. On account of the recent strike it now has only about 700 on. Both sides of the mill are running. |
