NotesRoots wedged between rocks or in loose scree, the stems compact or sprawling depending upon stability of substratum. Inflorescence glandular, very fragile and shattering at touch. Open forest of red fir, white fir, mountain hemlock, western white pine, with undercover of manzanita species.;
