INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Amirante Islands, Andaman Islands, Chagos Archipelago (including Egmont Atoll), India, Maldives, Nicobar Islands, Seychelles.

Note: Meinesz (1981: 64) was of the opinion that Tydemania expeditionis and T. gardineri as well as T. mabahithae (Nasr, 1944: 40–41; type locality: Masabi Reef, Red Sea) are different morphological expressions of a single species. Coppejans & Prud'homme van Reine (1989b: 135), after studying Indonesian collections, expressed the same opinion.
