Anadyomene leclancheri Decaisne, 1844: 236 (type locality: Sulu Archipelago, Philippine Islands).
Taxonomic synonym:
* Microdictyon clathratum G. Martens, 1868: 25, 66–67, pl. IV: fig. 1 (syntype localities: Zamboanga, Mindanao, Philippine Islands; Seram and Flores, Indonesia).—De Toni, 1889: 363.— J. Agardh, 1894a: 109.— De Wildeman, 1897a: 21.
Anadyomene clathrata (G. Martens) Heydrich, 1894: 284.
INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Indonesia (Flores).
Note: The synonymy was proposed by Setchell (1926b: 151; 1929: 458). Macrodictyon clathratum J. Gray, based in part on a specimen from Sumatra bearing the manuscript name Microdictyon clathratum Martens, is discussed at the end of Microdictyon [p. 758]. J. Gray (1866a: 72) established the genus Cystodictyon to accommodate Anadyomene leclancheri. J. Agardh (1894a: 109) added a second species, C. pavoninum, but Heydrich (1894: 281–285), after reviewing all marine net-forming Chlorophyceae, concluded that there was no justification for separating Cystodictyon from Anadyomene. Wille (1910 [1909–1910]: 114) reduced the genus to the rank of section within Anadyomene.
