NotesExcluded from California moss list. According to Dr. Halina Bednarek-Ochyra (2000), Racomitrium aquaticum has been erroneously attributed for the Pacific Northwest. The plants referred to this taxon from the Pacific Northwest (Lawton 1971) actually represent a new recently described species (Racomitrium ryszardii). Specimens previously identified as R. aquaticum from California represent other taxa.
