Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 | Treatment and author notes submitted for revision of The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates, based on phylogenetic analyses of molecular and morphological data (Manns & Anderberg 2005 Int Jour Pl Sci 166:1019-1028, 2007 Syst Bot 32:166-179, 2007 Molec Phylogenet Evol 45:971-980), that all California members of Myrsinaceae in the genera Anagallis, Glaux, and Trientalis have been transferred to Lysimachia (Manns & Anderberg 2009 Willdenowia 39:49-54; Cholewa 2014 Phytoneuron 2014-28: 1-2), so that Anagallis monelli L., treated as a waif in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], is treated as a synonym of Lysimachia monelli (L.) U. Manns & Anderb..
Correspondence 2 | [for Anagallis monelli L.] 14 Nov 2014 e-mail from Barbara Ertter see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 is little more than the contents of a collection label that reads, "Anagallis monelli L. [s.l.; incl. A. linifolia L.]. Alameda Co.: Claremont Canyon Regional Reserve in East Bay Hills SE of UC-Berkeley, ridge on N side of Claremont Ave., rocky shoulder along fire road through chaparral/scrub, no evidence of past habitation. Local, flowers royal blue with pink center. Barbara Ertter 19023, 20 May 2007." [The conditions appear wild enough for inclusion as a naturalized plant. Although it is less clear that the requirement that the plants are reproducing in some way is met, the plants are indicated to be flowering, and there evidently is more than one plant present, which would probably be explained better by reproduction of some kind rather than by multiple dispersal events.]
