Gray, treated as synonym of Chenopodium ambrosioides in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]; recognized and indicated for California in Flora North America treatment by Steven E. Clemants (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Author of Dysphania) & Sergei L. Mosyakin, in which it is stated, "This species appears to be the most common representative along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts and is probably native to that region."]
