Source of Report for California JEPS96223; added manually by Rosatti
Initial Editorial Comments JEPS96223 collected in 1993 by Barbara Ertter and annotated in 2006 as Cistus psilosepalus Sweet by John L. Strother, author of genus for Flora North America. [Identity confirmed by the Editor of this Index (Rosatti), based on Flora Europaea 2:282--284; collection label of JEPS96223 states, in part "Presidio of San Francisco, east of junction Arguello Blvd. and Turner Drive, at edge of pine forest. Locally established patch, small shrubs, flowers white, mostly past." This, together with one other collection in the Consortium of California Herbaria Database (UC1614197, collected in 1935 from Strawberry Canyon, Berkeley, and annotated in 2006 as Cistus psilosepalus Sweet by Strother) suggests that a current status of Jepson Flora Project-4 is most appropriate at this time. This decision made by the Editor of this Index and the Scientific Editor of The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] because the information only came to light after the treatment of Cistaceae for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] had been submitted and the author of that treatment, John W. Thieret, had died.]
