Initial Editorial Comments in no way mentioned in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]; indicated for e coast, AK, BC, California in Kartesz & Meacham; one record in SMASCH, JEPS81872 (P. Hiatt, G. D. Barbe 2791, 3 Jun 1980, Grass Valley, Nevada Co.); according to Source d, status uncertain (14 Feb 2003)
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 11 Feb 2009 and 13 Feb 2009 e-mail from David J. Keil see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, according to David J. Keil: Trifolium striatum needs to be changed to Jepson Flora Project-2 from Jepson Flora Project-3, based on an ID from Mike Vincent of a Trifolium photo he'd sent to him for ID (Miller 506.830); that the site for the Miller collection is out in the boonies of northwestern SLO Co.; that the photo of the specimen (Ruygt 3254-JEPS) appended to the Consortium record for that specimen does not appear to support a Current Status of Jepson Flora Project-3 entry either, in that the taxon is an inconspicuous annual and several individuals were present; and that he found that OBI has a second California specimen of Trifolium striatum from Monterey County (Yadon s.n.). [E-mail asking about reproduction of these sent to Keil on 13 Feb; status change pending response.]
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Michael A. Vincent see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Trifolium striatum L. is to be treated as a waif, not naturalized in CA, with no explanation given. [Correspondence 2 actually predates Correspondence 1, so that a Current Status of Jepson Flora Project-2 is retained for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]].
