Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 | $ 8 Feb 2002, from Margriet Wetherwax see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that this record is based on a collection of a cultivated plant, but goes on to say Clausen cited as the only record a plant collected from a roadside. [In fact, Sedum praealtum subsp. praealtum is included in the Clausen book (1979, p. 553) in a list of "naturalized species", each entry of which includes an "indication of localities where naturalized", which is the collection and locality cited in Correspondence 1. Clausen stated that inclusion in this list of naturalized plants was based on two criteria, "persistence for at least five years and production of new individuals without human aid." Thus, it is appropriate to consider this a naturalized taxon in CA.]
Correspondence 2 | 1 Apr 2008 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that Sedum praealtum was published by Alphonse de Candolle (A. DC. in Authors of Plant Names) in Mémoires de la Société de Physique et d'Histoire Naturelle de Genève 11: 445--447 (1847). [Therefore, author citation corrected to Sedum praealtum A. DC., from Sedum praealtum DC. previously in this Index, 4 Apr 2008.]
