Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 19 Dec 2001 e-mail from Barbara Ertter (including e-mail from Alan T. Whittemore, United States National Arboretum, senior author for Scirpus in Flora North America) see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 suggests confirmation of Scirpus cyperinus for Yosemite.
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by S. Galen Smith see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Scirpus cyperinus (L.) Kunth is to be treated as native to CA, with a note stating that although the taxon was confirmed as "naturalized in wildlands" in California by Hrusa et al. (Madroño 49(2): 61--98. 2002), it is now considered probably native to CA, and that further study is needed to resolve its status in this regard. [See also 1 Oct 2010 e-mail from Wetherwax, including many forwarded e-mails by Galen Smith and others on the subject, archived in Eudora mailbox "Smith Galen".]
Correspondence 3 26 Jan 2012 e-mail from Margriet Wetherwax, including forwarded e-mail of 4 Nov 2010 from Wetherwax to the Editor of this Index, which was somehow evidently fumbled by the Editor of this Index, and which included forwarded e-mail of 4 Nov 2010 from S. Galen Smith, author of Scirpus for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 3
Editorial Comments 3 Correspondence 3 indicates that, according to S. Galen Smith, author of Scirpus for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], Scirpus cyperinus (L.) Kunth is to be treated as naturalized in CA.
