Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Charles E. Turner (deceased), Robert R. Haynes, C. Barre Hellquist see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Sagittaria brevirostra Mack. & Bush is not to be treated. [As of 25 Aug 2009, there there is only one record in SMASCH, collected in 1947, so that it is most appropriate at this time to consider this taxon an historical waif in CA, and therefore to not treat it in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2].]
Correspondence 2 21 Sep 2009 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse, including e-mail from Doreen Smith see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that Sagittaria brevirostra Mack. & Bush should be treated at least as a waif in CA, and more likely as naturalized in the state, in that Barbara Ertter found it in the past at Stafford Lake, Novato, and it is found there still, and the population from which UC1177393 was obtained (see Comments) still includes many plants. [Unfortunately, this information became available too late to treat this taxon fully in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], although a note reflecting it is to appear there.]
