Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 23 Jun 2010
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Martin F. Wojciechowski see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Ornithopus pinnatus (Mill.) Druce is to be treated as an extirpated alien, in that the 1 site from which it was collected (evidently as a waif at the time) has been developed.
Correspondence 2 21 Jun 2010 e-mail from Rob Preston see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that Ornithopus pinnatus (Mill.) Druce is definitely not extirpated in CA, and in fact is spreading from its original collection localities and therefore is naturalized, as indicated by plants collected by Preston at UC Santa Cruz (Marshall Field) from a coastal prairie habitat (R.E. Preston 1808, 31 May 2002, DAV) .
